A Note From Our Founder
Welcome. Mérida Women’s Network began with one simple belief: no woman should have to build a life in a new city alone. I know what it’s like to leave behind familiarity and begin again. To wonder where your people are. To hope for meaningful conversations instead of small talk, to look for connection instead of simply filling your calendar.
And that’s exactly how this began.
When I was starting over in Mérida, I posted in a Facebook group with a simple question: Would any women like to meet for coffee? A few women said yes. We gathered at a little French café, where a woman with a fish on her head watched over our very first gathering. We didn’t know it at the time, but that coffee was the beginning of something special.
That woman with the fish has stayed with us ever since. Today, she represents so much of what Mérida Women’s Network is about: the courage to reach out, new beginnings, unexpected friendships, being ourselves, and choosing connection over competition. Because sometimes something beautiful begins with one woman simply asking, Would anyone like to meet for coffee? And a few women saying, Yes.
What started with that first coffee has grown into a community. A place to laugh, explore, support each other, grow, and have fun. A place where we can create meaningful friendships and opportunities, while making this city feel a little more like home.
I believe friendship is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other. That’s why every event we host is designed with intention. Every new member matters. Every conversation has the potential to change someone’s life. Whether you’ve been in Mérida for 20 years or 20 days, I hope you’ll find something special here.
Most importantly, this community is something we’re creating together.
